In The Middle
From the book of poetry 'Animal Souls' by Michael Fisher
It is a barley controllable urge
To just let it go
Tears and years of emotion converge
And tell me so
You see, I am not filled with the strength
That dilutes hard life
So I can hardly contemplate 'the other'
It is not so easy to do

So, like you, I just carry on
Staying in the middle
You see, I have been touched with tenderness
And only long for more

It's funny, what we live for
Insatiable desires for love and life
Money and death

It is a barley controllable urge
To just let it go
Tears and years of emotion converge
And tell me so
